Brazilian Wax Aftercare: 48-Hour Do's & Don'ts for Burbank
By Vanity Private Studio | August 10, 2026
We love hearing “Liz’s waxing service was excellent” after an appointment, and the fastest way to keep your waxing results looking calm and smooth is simple. Treat the first 24 to 48 hours after your Brazilian Wax like recovery time: skip heat, heavy sweat, tight clothes, sun, and sex. Keep it clean with cool water, pat dry, and stick to a fragrance-free soothing gel or aloe.
In Burbank, especially during warm, dry summer weeks, sweat and sun are usually the two biggest troublemakers. Follow the timeline below and you’ll cut down redness, bumps, and ingrowns.
0 to 48 hours after a Brazilian Wax: the rules that prevent irritation
Right after we finish your Brazilian Wax (ours is $65 and about 30 minutes), your skin is freshly exfoliated and the follicles are open. That’s why heat, friction, and bacteria can feel like a bigger deal than usual.
Our 48-hour non-negotiables: Keep it cool, keep it clean, and keep friction low.
Do this (especially the first night)
- Rinse or shower with lukewarm to cool water. If you shower same-day, keep it quick and gentle.
- Use a fragrance-free cleanser on the area. No scrubs. No loofahs.
- Pat dry, don’t rub. Then apply a thin layer of a simple soothing gel like aloe. We include a soothing serum with every waxing service.
- Wear breathable cotton underwear and loose bottoms so your skin can settle.
Skip this for at least 24 to 48 hours
- Hot baths, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms.
- Intense workouts and anything that creates a lot of sweat and friction.
- Swimming pools and ocean water.
- Sunbathing and tanning. Burbank sun is no joke in August.
- Sexual activity. It’s friction plus bacteria and it’s a common reason people get bumps.
- Fragranced body lotions, body sprays, deodorants, and active skincare ingredients on the waxed area.
Days 3 to 7: how to avoid bumps and keep that “excellent wax” feeling
By day three, most people feel normal again. This is also when little ingrowns like to show up if you go too hard too fast. We generally recommend you keep things calm for the full first week, then bring in exfoliation slowly.
What to keep doing
- Stay in breathable underwear and avoid tight leggings for long stretches if you’re prone to irritation.
- If you’re on set, commuting, or in a long workday, a quick rinse and a fresh change of underwear can make a big difference.
- Moisturize with a non-comedogenic, fragrance-free lotion once the skin feels settled.
What to avoid (common mistakes we see)
- Picking, squeezing, or “checking” bumps in the mirror. It usually makes it last longer.
- Exfoliating too early. Give it 3 to 7 days before you start, depending on how your skin looks and feels.
- Sun exposure on irritated skin. If you’re outside in Magnolia Park, keep that area covered the first few days.
And yes, our studio is right along Magnolia Boulevard, so a quick stop in and out is easy. Aftercare is what keeps your result looking as good on day seven as it did walking out.
Aftercare products we actually like for pubic waxing (simple, gentle, effective)
You don’t need a shelf of products. You need the right categories and good timing. We finish every wax for the bikini area with a soothing serum, and at home we generally keep it minimal.
Soothing gel: Aloe-based, fragrance-free is usually a safe bet right away.
If you’re extra reactive, ask us what’s best for your skin before you apply anything new.
Fragrance-free cleanser: Think gentle and boring. This is not the week for “tingly” washes.
Keep it on the skin briefly and rinse well.
Exfoliation: Start only after your skin is calm, usually day 3 to 7.
Go gentle. Over-exfoliating is one of the quickest ways to get angry bumps.
If you’re maintaining monthly, we’ll talk timing too. A lot of our regulars find that consistent upkeep supports softer regrowth, and we often suggest scheduling after your cycle when it makes sense for your body.
Red flags vs normal reactions, and when to text us
A little redness, warmth, or tiny bumps right after pubic waxing is common. Most of the time it settles quickly once you cool the skin down and stop the friction.
“She makes even the most intimate of sessions totally stress free and actually fun.”

Reach out to us if you’re unsure about what you’re seeing. And if you have spreading redness, worsening pain, fever, signs of infection, or persistent heavy bleeding, get medical care right away.
We’re a quick stop in Magnolia Park and we see clients coming in from Glendale, North Hollywood, Toluca Lake, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, and Sun Valley all the time. If your aftercare plan needs to fit a commute or a shoot schedule, tell us. We’ll keep it realistic.
If you’re planning your first appointment, start with our first-time Brazilian wax prep tips. If ingrowns are your main issue, read Brazilian wax for ingrown hairs. And if you’re trying to keep smoothness going longer between visits, Brazilian wax long-lasting smoothness is a good next step.
Want your next wax to feel easier? Keep a simple monthly rhythm
Our Brazilian Wax includes gloves, single-use sticks (no double-dipping), hard and soft wax depending on your skin, and soothing serum to finish. If you like staying consistent, ask us about Brazilian Upkeep for monthly maintenance. It’s faster, discounted, and tends to make regrowth feel softer over time.
